YWCA Judy Lloyd Leadership Award

Judy Lloyd
September 18, 1945 to June 1, 2005

Judy Lloyd’s two decades of influence at the YWCA is immeasurable. She participated on almost every YWCA committee and led the YWCA’s Board of Directors during some of the organization’s most historic moments. With each task, Judy offered those she worked with warm words of encouragement and the practical hands-on help to succeed beyond expectations. Her passing was met with an outpouring of generosity in her memory.

Inspired by Judy’s life and work, the YWCA Board of Directors chose to use those gifts to establish the Student Leadership Award in her honor and as part of Tribute. The recipients were young women who — while still in high school — proved themselves to be gifted, competent role models for us all. In total 16 recipients of the Tribute Student Award were also presented with the Judy Lloyd Leadership Award as a means of offering practical help to the young honorees as they worked to fulfill their dreams. This is perhaps one of Tribute’s most meaningful legacies, and it is the YWCA’s intent to continue presenting the Judy Lloyd Leadership Award.

Nominations for the YWCA Judy Lloyd Leadership Award will be accepted from the community at large and reviewed by a Selection Committee whose membership includes individuals who have demonstrated their personal commitment to the YWCA’s mission and values.

Stay tuned for more details including selection criteria, important dates, and more. In the meantime, contact Charisse Mitchell, YWCA CEO, with any questions at cmitchell@ywcawcmi.org.
