For more than a century, our historic YWCA West Central Michigan building at 25 Sheldon Avenue has stood as a symbol of safety, empowerment, and advocacy for women, children, and families in West Central Michigan. Its brick walls, handcrafted details, and legacy-filled halls remind us daily of the generations who sought hope and healing within them.
We are announcing an important milestone in our organization’s evolution: the plan to sell our historic Sheldon Avenue building.
After a thorough review and months of thoughtful discussion, our board and CEO have made the strategic decision to sell, positioning us to reinvest in what matters most: the people and programs at the heart of our mission.
We will continue to offer the same programs and services, though in a new location. We’re actively searching and plan to purchase a central location with bus line access and ample parking to best support our clients, staff, and volunteers. Selling the building doesn’t change our mission – we are here to stay!
Proceeds from the sale will help us:
• Secure a more accessible, purpose-fit space
• Strengthen our financial foundation
• Grow our core programs
• Innovate to meet community needs
• Build long-term stability for generations to come
To our partners, donors, volunteers, and advocates:
Your dedication has made this moment possible. Your support ensures that our mission remains strong, vibrant, and future-focused. As we make plans to continue our work in a new space, your contributions will help shape the next chapter of our history, which is one where survivors find even greater safety, support, and empowerment.
Thank you for standing with us as we honor where we have been and confidently step forward into where we are going. Our commitment to you remains unwavering as we step into a stronger future.
