The YWCA West Central Michigan is seeking a Full-time Director of Development to join our team. The hiring range is $65,000-$75,000 dependent on experience. This position is full-time exempt will report to the CEO.
The YWCA offers two options for medical coverage (including one option at no cost to the employee for single coverage), employer-paid dental, vision, and paid time off including both sick time and vacation accrual.

About the Position
In partnership with the CEO, sets overall philanthropic strategy for the YWCA, including crafting annual and three-year fund development plans with a dashboard to assess monthly and yearly progress. Collaborates with the CEO to develop revenue models to diversify and increase unrestricted funds. Develops, implements, and manages the major gifts program, planned giving, and special appeal/campaign strategies. Develops and maintains significant relationships with individual and corporate partners. Supports CEO and board members in philanthropic-related activities. Serves as the primary supervisor for Development staff. Creates departmental strategy ensuring successful implementation and alignment with organizational goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Revenue Generation
Develop, implement, and monitor annual and multi-year philanthropic plans supporting operational and strategic goals
Outline strategies to grow sustainable, unrestricted revenue through multiple channels including but not limited to annual, monthly, major, and planned giving including tactics related to cultivation and stewardship of donor societies/clubs, and individual, corporate, and foundation donors; events; regular and special appeals, and legacy gifts
Work with CEO, Leadership Team and program staff to identify and create major gift opportunities for donors and deepen donor relationships
Serve as a liaison to the Fund Development committee and ensure administrative support is provided
Evaluate strategy effectiveness and provide regular dashboard reports on philanthropic metrics and overall progress on the fund development plan
Develop and manage the major gifts program, with both annual and multi-year commitments
Develop and manage the planned giving program
Manage and grow the monthly giving program and donor societies
Donor Relations & Engagement
Provide strategic oversight for donor communications and events, ensuring alignment with philanthropic and organizational goals.
Create specific touchpoints/stewardship activities for individuals, major and planned giving donor/donor prospects. Oversee donor communication activities targeting donor groups.
Work with Development Team to regularly evaluate the donor experience and adjust as needed based on best practices
Advocate for YWCA positions, clients, and resource needs
Communications & Marketing/Brand Management
Oversee all external communications, marketing, and brand management related to fundraising
Develop external communications strategy in alignment with organizational strategic priorities
Leadership & Supervision
Participate in YWCA Leadership Team functions, including but not limited to YWCA strategic planning, budget development and monitoring, policy development, and performance quality improvement.
Strengthen and build an agile and results-oriented staff. Provide performance-based supervision. Ensure staff members are sufficiently resourced and supported.
Work with CEO to develop and manage department budget.
Oversee department operations and ensure compliance with industry standards and applicable local, state, and federal fundraising and solicitation regulations. With the assistance of staff, create and maintain written policies and protocols for department operations. Ensure efficient, effective, and transparent financial tracking and reporting.
Work with staff to ensure that the donor database is effectively managed to support fundraising goals.
Promote cross functional collaboration as a component of operationalizing the strategic plan and annual goals. Develop clear processes and collaborate with all organizational departments to create an understanding of and appreciation for the advancement functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree or advanced fundraising credential/certification
Working knowledge of budget administration and basic accounting principles
Possess an understanding of issues related to racism, sexism, diversity, empowerment of women and girls, domestic and dating abuse, sexual assault, stalking, and child sexual abuse
Managerial and supervisory experience necessary
Hands-on experience in non-profit organizations, preferably in fundraising and communications
Skills
Ability to develop, plan, and implement and achieve short- and long-range goals
Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Hands on, creative, self-starter with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to pivot quickly when circumstances change while staying accountable for set goals and expectations
Superb communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
Demonstrated ability to create, compose, and edit donor-centered letters and other materials.
Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with MS Teams, InDesign, WordPress, MailChimp, and popular social media platforms
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent, easy-to-follow records maintenance.
Maintain high degree of confidentiality, follow routines, troubleshoot, and respond to change as needed
Can handle multiple priorities and tasks, while completing daily tasks within the required deadlines.
Initiative to learn new applications, procedures and incorporate “best practice” models

Has access to and willingness to use personal transportation for business purposes, with compensation.
Ability to be qualified as an approved driver for the YWCA.
Physically able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, stand, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear, see, type, and perform repetitive motion.
Light work involves sitting most of the time and exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently for the purposes of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.
Visual acuity is required to perform duties involving operating motor vehicles or other tools/machinery, or performing tasks involving analysis of data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, or making general observations of facilities and/or surroundings.
Employment is dependent upon satisfactory background and reference checks.
Working Conditions
· Typical office conditions exist including sedentary work involving sitting most of the time and exerting negligible amounts of force for the purposes of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects.

The hiring range is $17.41 to $20 per hour dependent on experience. This role ensures the safety and security of the facility.

THE ROLE
Provides Safety and Security to the Facilities assigned and provides and maintains a safe atmosphere for all employees, guests, and clients of the YWCA West Central Michigan.Summary of Responsibilities
Monitors surveillance cameras and inspects the property.
Enforces YWCA policy and procedures.
Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
Responds to incidents within the building.
Provide Employees escorts to their vehicles upon request.
Greets and welcomes guests and clients.
Interacts with vendors, contractors, employees, and clients.
Documents events or occurrences while on shift.
Performs light maintenance and repairs.
Reports supply needs, equipment problems, facility upkeep needs, or safety hazards promptly to supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent level of education and training.
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
Must be able to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
Physically able to: climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, stand, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear, see, and type.
Medium work involving movement and exertion of up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently for purposes of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects.
Working Conditions
Indoor/outdoor working conditions exist in all four seasons.
Conditions are subject to occasional exposure to agitated or threatening individuals.
Exposure to various cleaning chemical solutions.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, hourly position at 32 hours. The position is 2pm-8pm Monday-Thursday and 10am-6:30pm on Sundays.
