2018 Summer Camps

Activism Academy (Grades 7-9): July 9-13

Activism Academy at the YWCA empowers middle school girls to develop the confidence and skills they need to make a difference in their communities. This free program is an opportunity to learn about social justice while having fun and connecting with other passionate youth.

Workshop topics will include:

  • Identity and Intersectionality
  • Women’s Leadership
  • Finding Your Voice
  • Self Care
  • Empowering Others
  • Service Learning
  • Public Speaking
  • Community Organizing

 

Becoming a #GIRLBOSS (Grades 10-12): July 23-27

Becoming a #GIRLBOSS at the YWCA empowers high school students with the skills and knowledge they need as they enter into adulthood. This free program makes college prep and future planning exciting, fun, and real! Participants will have the opportunity to explore career paths, meet with female leaders, tour college campuses, and much more!

Workshop topics will include:

  • Identity and Self Exploration
  • Sexual Health and Safety
  • Communication
  • Budgeting and Finances
  • Networking and Relationships
  • Career Development
  • Self Care and Wellness
  • Women’s Leadership

Note: Interested participants who self-identify as female are welcome to apply to our programs. This includes participants who were not assigned to the female sex at birth, but live and identify as female now and those legally assigned to the female sex who identify as transgender or gender non-conforming.
