Helen Claytor Center for Girls’ Leadership

The Helen Claytor Center for Girls’ Leadership at the YWCA West Central Michigan provides girl-identifying leaders with the space, knowledge, and freedom to explore their passions and make a difference in their communities.

Helen Jackson Wilkins Claytor (1907-2005), a lifelong supporter and leader of the YWCA, spent her life working tirelessly to ensure the rights of all individuals, especially for women and people of color. The impact she had on the YWCA is invaluable and has inspired us to create a center that will forever devote time and passion toward the fight for racial and gender equity in her honor.

Note: Helen Claytor Center for Girls’ Leadership programming is open to all youth – cisgender, transgender, gender-nonconforming, genderqueer, and two-spirit people – who identify with girlhood, womanhood, or femininity.
