About the Position
The YWCA West Central Michigan is seeking a Full-time Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. The hiring range is $16.40/hr. – $18.45/hr. dependent on experience. This role performs light maintenance and repairs, and general upkeep of buildings and equipment for all YWCA-owned facilities with a primary priority of safety for all clients, volunteers, staff. About you
You are comfortable working alone and with other people. You enjoy routine maintenance work in a office building and/or residential setting. You thrive in an environment that has variety and where you play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and coordination with vendors to ensure safe and well-maintained building and grounds.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance inspections, repairs, and general upkeep of buildings and equipment for all YWCA-owned facilities.
- Maintains inventories of cleaning products, tools, and other items needed for repairs.
- Assists with room set-ups, tear downs, moving furniture, stock and deliveries as needed.
- Performs general yard work for YWCA facilities which may include but is not limited to lawn mowing, minor landscaping, snow removal and salting, and litter clean up.
- Interacts with vendors, contractors, and facility users for purposes of providing guidance, instruction and status updates
- Reports supply needs, equipment problems, facility upkeep needs or safety hazards promptly to supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent level of education and training. Additional training beyond high school in construction, mechanical trades or institutional facility management preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in related field.
- Basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, and general construction.
- Must be able to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
- Valid operator’s license, required.
- Ability to be qualified as an approved driver for the YWCA, required.
- Physically able to: climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, stand, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear, see, and type.
- Medium work involving movement and exertion of up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently for lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects.
- Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or other tools/machinery, or perform tasks involving analysis of data, transcribing, viewing a computer, reading, or making general observations of facilities and/or surroundings.
Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to close quarters, enclosed rooms, crawl spaces, and other similar areas.
- Indoor and outdoor working conditions exist in all four seasons.
- Conditions are subject to occasional exposure to agitated or threatening individuals.
- Exposure to various cleaning chemical solutions.
