YWCA Mission
Eliminating Racism
Empowering Women and Girls
Promoting Peace, Justice, Freedom, and Dignity for All

Where racism and sexism give rise to domestic and sexual violence, the YWCA transforms lives with expert services for victims, education to end those things that fuel abuse, and public policy that translates our mission into law. The effort to end the crisis of domestic abuse and sexual violence is complex and consequently, the YWCA’s approach is multi-faceted. It includes an array of prevention and intervention services, as well as active participation in local, regional, and statewide collaborations. Our community and many others have generously invested in the YWCA’s work. We share a vision of a world where all people are safe, fully respected, and equally afforded the dignity inherent in each person’s humanity.

The YWCA is known statewide for – and prides itself on – excellence, cultural and professional competence, exemplary victim-focused care, a shared commitment to doing what needs to be done to mitigate the impact of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and to address the intersectionality of racism and interpersonal violence.
