programs residential services: domestic violence shelter

Emergency Shelter - 24 Hour Confidential Crisis Hotline: (616) 451-2744

The YWCA West Central Michigan provides up to 30 days of emergency shelter to victims and their dependent children who are fleeing situations of domestic violence. YWCA staff members are also able to provide guidance in developing safe exit strategies for those who have the opportunity to plan their escape from their assailants. As needed, temporary shelter for pets can be arranged too.

Shelter services are available 24 hours a day, year-round. YWCA staff members assist residents to complete a safety plan relevant to their situations. Residents are also assisted in accessing a variety of resources that will help them establish a safe, secure environment for themselves and their children upon leaving our shelter.

These include support groups, individual and family counseling, childcare, and advocacy services (related to housing, transportation, medical care, financial aid, legal services, and employment).

The YWCA's emergency shelter services are available to anyone regardless of gender, physical ability, race, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, height, or weight.
